Another crash closes Captain Cook Highway near Turtle Cove

An investigation is underway following yet another crash on the Captain Cook Highway near Port Douglas this morning. IMAGE: Supplied.


UPDATE: 
Police are investigating a two vehicle traffic crash that occurred on the Captain Cook Highway near the turn off at Turtle Cove at about 7.30am today.

The Captain Cook Highway has been reopened.

The two drivers sustained non-life threatening injuries. The male driver was conveyed to Mossman Hospital whilst a 28-year-old woman was flown by Rescue 510 Helicopter to Cairns hospital for treatment.

The highway was closed for a number of hours whilst emergency services worked on the occupants and conveyed them to hospitals.

Investigations into the crash are continuing.


EARLIER: The Captain Cook Highway at Turtle Cove, between Wangetti Beach & Port Douglas, is closed in both directions.

Police and emergency services are working to clear the scene and re-open one lane.
 
The two vehicle traffic crash occurred at about 7.30am today and occupants sustained what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
 
Rescue 510 has been called to transport a 28-year-old woman from one of the vehicles to Cairns Hospital for medical treatment.
 
An update will be provided once the highway has been re-opened.
