Mirage Country Club Port Douglas has picked up a set of shiny state of the art golf carts as part of a refurbishment plan.

The club received 20 of the latest-model Yamaha carts on Wednesday.

General manager Rob De Carlo said the carts would improve the golfing experience for players.

“These carts are the newest model that Yamaha has produced,” Mr De Carlo said.

“They’re very quiet and they have a bag cover to protect clubs and gear from rain.

“I’m sure they’re going to be well-received by our customers.”

Mr De Carlo said the purchase of the new carts was part of a larger-scale plan by owners Fullshare to refurbish the club and ‘bring it back up to a five-star standard’.

“There are a few key components that make up a good golf club,” he said.

“One is obviously good grounds and good equipment such as clubs and carts, which we have started to improve.

“The other is, of course, great service.

“This is the first of many upgrades that is going to bring us back to a five-star standard with state-of-the-art operations.”
