Douglas Junior Netball started round two last Tuesday at Port Courts with the 10 and under competition Pink Lightening playing the Little Saints.

The teams were evenly matched with some fantastic attack and defence from both teams ending in a 2 all draw.

Best players Lani Dickson, Courtney Geddes, Edie Thurtell and Mia Schreiber.

The Young Stars and the Young Comets played another nail-biter, the Stars kept the pressure on to take the game by a goal with the final score 2-1, both teams defended well with improved passing and minimal stepping, best players Ashley Herrington, Andie Heidke, Abbie White and Layla Kerswell.

The 12 and under competition started with the Young Sapphires playing the Young Gems.

Both teams showed great skills in both attack and defence, the Sapphires were stronger in the goal circle shooting 15-9.

Best players Myah Lowenstein-Jones, Jorja Harvey, Sophie Kirk and Heidi Pashen.

On court two the Pythons played Fast Motion, the Pythons used their strength and experience having played together for their second year to take the game 23-2.

Fast Motion who were undermanned applied plenty of pressure and never gave up. Well done!

Best players Tayhla Cadiente, Sophie Watson, Hannah Durie and Alex Brown.

In the Intermediate competition, the Superheroes played against Young Guns 2 on court one, the Superheroes looked sharp in their new dresses and so was their game.

They shot six goals to three in the first half and continued to outscore the Guns 2, final score 13-6 with Jasmine Kirk, Aleesha Viola and Nanook Aston-Boyle named best players.

The 12 and under representative squad played Young Guns 1.

The 'reps' intercepted and applied fantastic pressure against Guns 1 and the score does not show the effort and the amount of turnovers they created.

Well done girls. The game was enjoyable to watch.

Final score 34-1 to Guns 1. Best players were Hannah Durie, Koreena Minniecon (both on fire!), Samaria Denman and Sasha Lowenstein-Jones.

Thanks to our Junior umpires for the afternoon, Kyah Francis, Hannah Durie, Jaime Thurtell, Jasmine Kirk, Loukita Aston-Boyle, Bonnie Francis.
