Nicky G talks NBL

The Taipans split the road double in Round 3 and I bet coach Fearne won’t be too disappointed about the loss in Adelaide.

All coaches aim to win all games but it’s inevitable road losses will occur. The bright side for the Snakes is that they took care of Sydney quite easily on Friday night and then the following night in another hostile environment they had their chances to grab another away scalp.

Adelaide, who have loads of talent this season, probably only pulled it out of the fire due to fresher legs on the night. The Taipans are now two wins from four starts and IMO will only get better!
In Round 4 the Snakes have a re-match with Shane Heal’s Sydney Kings who play Townsville on Friday as well so let’s hope they have the fatigued bodies for that one!

Townsville are yet to win a game and Cairns will be keen to protect the home court so it may be a long hard weekend for the visitors. I’m expecting the Crocs to start clicking soon and I don’t see the Kings having enough fire power.

In other news the off-season shake up at Tigerland (replacing Gleeson as coach with Anstey) has worked an absolute treat (yes, note the sarcasm).

Melbourne look to have the wooden spoon already wrapped up because as great a player as he was, Anstey doesn’t seem to be able to coach.

The Tigers will need to decide soon whether to axe a favourite son or give him a chance to learn the trade and win some games – time will tell...

Here’s my predictions for Round 4 and let’s see if I can keep the streak alive (5/5 last round).

Fri, Tigers vs NZ – NZ by 10
Fri, T/ville vs Sydney – TV by 10
Sun, Adel vs W/Gong – Gong by 3
Sun, Cairns vs Sydney – Cairns by 15

Let’s hope for a sell out up here on Sunday – GO SNAKES!
