Community services funding continues

Port Douglas Community Services Network (Neighbourhood Centre) and Mossman Community Centre have had their State Government funding extended.

Member for Cook Jason O'Brien announced the two organisations will receive $97,882 per year over three years to help subsidise their important work.

“The centres are at the heart of our communities, providing a home base for a broad range of personal, family and community support services," Mr O'Brien said.

“It’s where Mossman and Port Douglas locals go when they need information, referral, counselling, education and training programs."

Mr O'Brien spruiked the merits of Premier Anna Bligh’s election promise that a re-elected Labor Government will increase Community Centre Infrastructure Fund over the next three years.

“This means an extra $7.5 million over three years to support the work of local community groups across the State, such as neighbourhood centres and meals on wheels."

Community Centre Infrastructure Fund will be sourced from increased GST allocation.
