Muff out, G's on

Nick Gibson will be the new face, or rather, voice of the popular Radio Port Douglas Saturday morning Sports Show when it returns to the airwaves in March.

Long-time stalwart, Simon "Muffy" James, has decided to call it stumps, and Nicky G is excited at the prospect of taking the hot seat.

"They're big footy boots to fill, but I can't wait. Talking sport with mates is what I do best so it should be great fun," he said.

Those mates include cricket tragic Roy Weavers, and long time sports journo Kerry Larsen who return for another season.

"We're keen to make sure we cover a variety of sports in equal share so everyone will have a reason to listen in," Roy said.

"We're also planning to get a lot more celebrity guests in this year and Nick wants us to play to our strengths."

Kerry is returning for her seventh year on the sports show making her the team's veteran.

"We'll miss Muff, he's a walking sports encyclopedia. But, we're looking forward to Nicky G's live interviews and different takes on things."

The Sports Show kicks off on Saturday 17 March from 9am to 11am on Radio Port Douglas 90.9 and 107.1 FM.

Editor's Comments: Is it just me or is there a distinct Newsport feel to this crew? We are slowly taking over the world (insert evil laugh). Good luck guys and don't let me hear you paying out on Collingwood.
