Newsport hits 10,000 comments

Boasting as the regions single largest community forum Newsport management today announced its 10,000th comment.

The comment was by Nick Gibson,  "If they change the constitution there will be uproar when the first innocent person is killed because he couldn't defend himself. Obama can't win!"  ref the Shooter defends rifle club article from Dec 19th.

As you can imagine Newsport management were pretty impressed by this so much so they released their own press release and if you think this sounds like someone beating their own chest? Yep me too, but with an achievement like this, I guess it's OK on this occasion.

"Today we thank the population of the Douglas, Cairns and the great world around us for its magnetic approach and insight into the day to day issues of our spectacular region here in Tropical North Queensland"

"10,000 comments in 24 months reflects an average of 13 comments per day across the articles since the initiative was inititiated to help give a bigger and clearer voice to the community.

"With the region moving towards the possibility of reclaiming a new government and voting scheme we expect the Newsport and its Facebook facility to be in overdrive over the coming months"

"A great way for those who care about the region to voice their opinions and for it to be recognized by the regions single largest readership is fantastic. Not only do the comments reflect the views of the residents of our region but also those who visit regularly plus even those who have never visited us which makes for a unique perspective"

We've always prided ourselves on this service being a unique intellectual forum and we look forward to the next 10,000 comments getting inside all the regions issues of the day.... All we ask is that you 'keep 'em clean, keep 'em to the point and stay away from personal attacks'.

We want construction not destruction!
